Southern Style Now Showhouse 2017
Traditional Home's second annual Southern Style Now Designer Showhouse drew more than two dozen designers to the heart of Savannah's Historic Landmark District. See how some of the talented designers incorporated our lighting to illuminate the 1854 Greek Revival home! Photography by Jean Allsopp.
Parlor by Jared Hughes
"It's Italian fresco meets chinoiserie," Hughes told Traditional Home. The designer drew inspiration from the Hostess City's lush landscape - the aptly named Savannah Large Chandelier illuminates a custom citrus tree wallcovering. The Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass finish of the McClean Easel Light and the Moresby Floor Lamp complement the vibrant buttercup-hued crown molding.
Kitchen by Lisa Mende
Lisa Mende incorporated primary colors found in the Lowcountry - blue and green - to curate an upbeat, inviting atmosphere. The veteran kitchen designer selected the David 12 Art Light to highlight the open shelves and the abstract marsh painting. The Mid-century modern silhouette of the Sommerard Large Triple Arm Chandelier reflects Savannah's eclectic feel.
Powder Room by Betsy Berry
Charleston-based designer Betsy Berry created a jewel-box look for the powder room, perfect for dinner party guests. A Regency-style mirror, Iveala Single Sconce and high-gloss lacquer walls exude European elegance, while still remaining highly functional.
Master Bedroom by Melanie Turner
Moody moss walls celebrate sophisticated Southern style in the traditional master bedroom designed by Melanie Turner. The crystal petals of the Claret Chandelier accentuate the floral fabric of the custom bedding. A pair of Chambers Medium Table Lamps in Ivory balances the autumnal palette.
Master Dressing Room by Benjamin Johnston
An exotic mural sets the scene in Benjamin Johnston's master dressing room. "It's part Southern Gothic and part Old Hollywood," Johnston told Traditional Home. Brass fixtures including the Sommerard Triple Arm Floor Lamp and the Watson Small Tail Sconce inject glamour into the tropical escape.
Master Bathroom by Kevin Walsh
Kevin Walsh paid homage to the historic home by infusing the space with traditional elements, including the Vivian Double Sconces with custom pleated shades. Walsh told Traditional Home, "I wanted to create a bath with a historical presence but, at the same time, make it feel current." Hints of chartreuse give the bathroom a contemporary pop of color.
Bedroom Two by Kara Cox
Kara Cox filled her bedroom with nature-inspired elements - the Contemporary Balustrade Table Lamp in Alabaster, a vintage brass tree, and the Hampton Large Chandelier - to bring the outdoors in. Touches of blush (bedside lamps are vintage - shop the Beekman Table Lamp for a similar look!) were woven in for a feminine flair.
Garden-Level Guest Kitchen by Gwyn Duggan
The Savannah-based designer created a versatile guest kitchen with vintage pottery, wicker baskets and mesh cabinet doors. Brass hardware and a pair of Anette Library Lights create an inviting warmth for guests against the crisp palette.
Study by Patrick J. Hamilton
Patrick J. Hamilton worked with Stroheim fabrics designed by students from the Savannah School of Art & Design. "This whole room started three blocks away, two years earlier with a textile collection designed at SCAD's fiber program building. What a thrill to bring this collaboration full circle," Hamilton told Traditional Home.
