Design Detour: Young Huh

Young Huh’s artist’s studio in the 2019 Kips Bay Decorator Show House was the room that launched a million likes, but this A-list designer is far from an overnight success. Since launching her namesake firm in 2007, the former attorney has made her reputation for distinctly modern spaces brought to life with warm and playful pattern and color.

Like her career itself, Huh’s portfolio is defined by its evolution, and her portfolio of residential, commercial and hospitality projects is filled with rooms and moments guaranteed to stop you mid-scroll.

HOT TIP

Stephen Antonson is known for his work with plaster, and I adore the pieces he creates. His sculptures are sophisticated and engaging, but also feel playful and unfussy—I love the balance!”

BRIGHT IDEA

“The Randolph Flush Mount is our go-to workhorse. We need as much light as possible in NYC apartments and this one provides so much sparkle! It also works well with lower ceilings and looks great in multiples down a long hallway.”

TRY THIS

“I’m loving Dedar’s Babelia fabric right now and I’ll be using it in my husband’s office. It feels architectural, energetic, varied, and in a way, powerful—much like New York City.”

“I can’t wait to get back to Veronika (at the Fotografiska museum) with a few of my friends that I so admire: Nick Olsen, the ladies of Tilton Fenwick, Danielle Colding, Sheila Bridges, Tina Ramchandani and Alberto Villalobos.”
