Design Detour: Amanda Lindroth

From her polished projects in Palm Beach and the Bahamas to the easy-breezy chic of her namesake tabletop and furniture collection, Amanda Lindroth is the undisputed queen of laid-back luxe. Rattan, wicker, ceiling fans and no-fuss fabric have become something of a signature in her work, and she ties it all together in a way that feels elevated and, well, happy. Just as it should be, she says -- after all, most of her clients are on vacation.

Her go-with-it ethos is perhaps best summarized by Amanda’s favorite flower: whatever she finds in her garden or can steal (ahem, borrow) from her neighbor’s garden. Luckily for her, in these tropical environs that means palm fronds, orchids and hibiscus … oh my.

RSVP

"I’d love to have a Rum Dum at the Lyford Cay Club’s Pool Terrace with Tom Scheerer, the club’s designer and someone whose taste I adore."

TRY THIS

“Quadrille’s China Seas hand-printed cotton fabrics give my projects a freshness and a special artisanal layer.”

BRIGHT IDEA

"I am a lover of light at eye level. In other words, the fewer ceiling lights the better in my interiors. I prefer to add light to a room in subtle ways, which is why I endlessly use the Dorchester picture light in my projects. Not only does it highlight the art it hangs above, it also washes the whole wall with just enough ambient light."

HOT TIP

“We love using local straw work and artwork from local painters -- they bring authenticity to our interiors.”

STOP IN

“John Fondas has the best eye in the whole world! The Island Store at Lyford Cay is full of treasures including the finest embroidered linens from Italy, sterling silver dipped shells, wonderful hand-blocked voile quilts and everything you need for entertaining at home!”

STAY THE NIGHT (OR TWO)

"The Dunmore is proof you can make magical updates to a legendary place without overdoing it! It has all my usual bells and whistles: cotton slipcovered upholstery, natural seagrass underfoot and windows wide open to welcome the sea breeze."
