Design Detour: Kristin Dittmar

With a portfolio of jaw-dropping residential projects and a handful of the hottest commercial properties in town, Aspen native Kristin Dittmar marches to the distinctive drumbeat of her hometown. Preferring to let the dramatic landscape speak for itself, Dittmar brings a bit of understated chic to every space she touches, but make no mistake — these are quiet rooms with a lot to say.

RSVP

“My favorite restaurant in Aspen is Bonnie’s on Ajax Mountain. Locals know Bonnie’s has the best pancakes in town, but it’s only open in the winter and you need to be there before 10am. I would love to eat there with all my old friends … and maybe Klaus Obermeyer could show up at our table.”

HOT TIP

“I love working with photographer Kate Holstein — she captures Aspen so beautifully.”

BRIGHT IDEA

“I always love to throw a fun pendant into an unexpected space, and the Piel Medium Wrapped Pendant by Kelly Wearstler is a great one. Over a kitchen island, it makes a statement and adds a playful element to a utilitarian room.”

STOP IN

“When in Aspen, you have to visit Kemo Sabe. It embodies the west and cowboys with a little bit of glam, and you’ll see their hats and boots all around town."

TRY THIS

“We’re loving Carlisle and Co’s Corsica Cork wallpaper. It reminds us of Aspen trees, and what’s more Colorado than that?”
