Design Detour: Becca Jones

Powered by an aesthetic she describes as “warm modern,” Becca Jones designs rooms full of clean lines and shiny surfaces that always manage to feel inviting and lived-in. Whether she’s working on a historic, coastal or new construction project, you can bet it’ll feature her trademark natural wood millwork. “I love pecky cypress!” Becca says.

Her other go-tos? Large windows to capture the views, natural stone, boucle statement pieces and, of course, great art.

RSVP

“I’d love a fun evening at Le Farfalle with Gil Tisdale, my right hand man at To The Trade (and definitely one of Charleston’s most stylish), my girl Lindsay Ables who makes flower and color magic with Ables Landscapes, photographer Brianna Hill, who always brings the party, and my dad, who is a wealth of knowledge and great conversationalist. Since a dinner like this would mean we’re post-Covid I think I would add another 20 people to the list, too — the more the merrier!”

TRY THIS

"Rebecca Atwood’s Marble Stripe Fabric has great movement, and it's a nice nod to all of the water around Charleston."

BRIGHT IDEA

“With lighting, bigger is definitely better, so I tend to go modern and oversized when possible. In one of my favorite dining spaces we used the oversized Kelly Wearstler Rousseau oval chandelier, and it was perfection. If oversized doesn’t work, I love to create a repetitive moment — think a grid of Kelly Wearstler 4.5” Precision flush mounts!”

HOT TIP

“A great art collection takes interiors to the next level! Mado Smith’s abstracts fill the walls of my home -- they add such great texture, movement and color. And Anne Darby Parker’s figure paintings are definitely on my list to own one day."

STOP IN

“I am so grateful that Charleston now has To The Trade on King as a resource and place to shop. I love meeting clients in this beautiful space to peruse selections in person, sit on upholstery and shop off the floor. It’s a game changer for the design community and our clients!”
