Design Detour: Danielle Rollins

With homes in Atlanta and Palm Beach, designer, author and entertaining expert Danielle Rollins knows a thing or two about livable luxury. “Atlanta is all about the new classics,” she says, pointing to a modern millennial take on decorating that keeps heritage and history in mind.

By taking the familiar for a fresh spin, she creates spaces that convey an appreciation for the past and a curiosity for the present and future — in Danielle’s world, there’s always something new to see.

RSVP
“Interior design looks like such a fun job, but it's very hard work! I love to unwind with my friends at Umi Sushi — the service is impeccable. I’d invite Dr. Deborah Kelly (the best internist in the city), Karen Spencer, who owns dtox juice, jeweler Keisha Noel of KZ Noel, interior designer Melanie Turner and Leslie Newsom Rascoe from Milieu magazine.

TRY THIS
“Lee Jofa Hollyhock feels so Southern and works in any colorway. I like to pair Hollyhock with a solid that lets it do the talking, but it plays nicely with other fabrics, too.”

BRIGHT IDEA

“I love to light a kitchen like a study. Sconces and library lights are an opportunity to add a graphic punch, and they’re also more practical than task lighting up high. Everything has to serve a purpose."

HOT TIP

“Mary Meade Evans, my go-to decorative painter, can do anything and everything. She’s done messy cabana stripes for me, silverleaf palm trees, overpainted rugs — I’ve known her for 30 years, and she’s the best.”

STOP IN

“I’m all about antiques, and Barry Hunter at Parc Monceau has the most beautiful eye. I always find something super special there that I wouldn’t see anywhere else.”
