Shop the Showhouse: Garden-Inspired Interiors from the Pasadena Showcase
Set on five parklike acres in Pasadena, a 1928 estate becomes a canvas for a masterful mix of garden–inspired romance and clubby sophistication — with plenty of Visual Comfort & Co. products to light the way.

This year's Pasadena Showcase House of Design, a 15,000-square-foot colonial estate originally built in 1928, is nestled on five acres of parklike grounds, and the softness of the surrounding landscape offers a fitting counterpart to the formality of the home's traditional bones. Inside, designers created environments that feel layered, lived-in and luminous, thanks in large part to lighting that serves as a visual anchor, deftly guiding the eye across interiors that take a page from the broad lawns and terraced gardens beyond.
Throughout the home, designers found common ground between two seemingly opposite moods: serenity and refinement. Botanical silhouettes like leafy flush mounts and branchlike chandeliers nod to the grounds without veering into pastiche — a fitting way to honor the home’s original landscape designer, Katherine Bashford, one of the earliest female landscape designers. Elsewhere, layers of deep color and richly patterned wallpaper convey mood, warmth and ambiance. Here, as ever, balance is key. Read on to step inside six garden-inspired moments from the Pasadena Showcase and discover the ways designers used Visual Comfort & Co. lighting to shape each setting.
