Design Detour: Gather Projects

Partners in life and in renovation Chris and Fallon Liles started Gather Projects to celebrate their shared passion for building and design. Both Arizona natives, the couple’s innate understanding of their home state’s palette and terrain lends layers of authenticity to the clean, modern and family-friendly spaces they’re known for … and with four sons of their own, the team behind Gather knows a little something about building to last. Here, Fallon shares her Scottsdale style secrets.

RSVP

“We cannot wait to enjoy dinner at Valentine in Phoenix after strolling around Modern Manor, the mid-century modern store that shares its location. We’re friends with the owners, Ryan and Kylie, and we love that they reimagined the historic and iconic Paris Laundry as a hip, cozy and beautifully designed multi-use space. It’s quickly becoming a local hotspot!”

STOP IN

“Local home decor and antique store Vintage Market Home is a favorite for sourcing unique and curated goods for our projects. They also host a huge semiannual market where we can stock up on everything from rugs and furniture to styling accessories.”

BRIGHT IDEA

“We love adding lighting over shelves and often choose warm finishes that add depth and texture to the overall design. We love the sleek simplicity of the Boston Functional Single Arm Library Light by Chapman & Myers over shelving — it makes a statement without competing with nearby hanging light fixtures.”

HOT TIP

“The creative husband-and-wife team from Compound Concrete are a favorite for us to partner with on our projects. They build functional art pieces using concrete-based materials and bring all of our dreams to life. Integrated sinks and fireplace surrounds have been some of our favorite pieces we’ve worked on together.”

TRY THIS

Orange Crush wallpaper by Nathan Turner for Lulu & Georgia comes in a few shades and is a great complement to a powder bathroom, mudroom and more! Our neighborhood was built on citrus groves, so incorporating this print into projects is a fun nod to our roots.”

"The Go Lightly Sconce by Barbara Barry pairs perfectly with a vanity mirror, and its classic design is a favorite we come back to over and over."

"Picture lights often find a place in our projects, and the vintage vibe of the 18" Cabinet Makers Picture Light by Chapman & Myers makes it one of our favorites."
